What is a chameleon paint color?
Chameleon paint is a kind of paint that can present various color effects viewing from different angles, with very unique color change characteristics; its color change is caused by optical principles such as light refraction, diffraction and interference. Chameleon color paint is formed by adding special chameleon powder to the adjusted metal paint, since chameleon paint pigment powder special form (very thin sheets) has directionality in the reflection of light, chameleon paint coating can present different colors with the change of sight angle.
How does chameleon paint work?
- Refraction
Chameleon paint contains tiny color particles, and when light passes through these tiny particles, the refractive index of the particles varies from the angle of the incident light, resulting in a change in color. For example, when light is illuminated from one angle, the color may appear blue, while when light is illuminated from another angle, the color may change to green or red. This refraction is the basis for the color change of chameleon paint.
- Diffraction
Diffraction is the diffusion of light through a hole or obstacle. In chameleon colour paint, tiny color particles form a series of pore structures, and light passing through these pores can generate different paths and phase differences, leading to diffraction, so that the color shows richer and variable effects.
- Interference
Interference is the phenomenon that two or more beams of light meet to form interference fringes between light and dark phases. The color particles in the chameleon paint produce interference effects, making the interference fringes of light appear different colors in the viewer’s eyes. This interference allows chameleon paint to exhibit various color effects.
What are the characteristics of chameleon pigments?
Chameleon paint is suitable for the spraying of both plastic parts and metal parts. It can be cured at room temperature or baked into films, but the current range of spraying paint is relatively narrow, and there are high requirements for construction environment and spray gun (such as paint viscosity, spraying pressure, paint production and atomization effect), so it is not suitable for mass production. Meanwhile, the chameleon product has moderate granules. With the change of angle (15°, 45°, 120°), the change trend of pearl hue is blue, orange and red. Due to the characteristic effect of chameleon, it is required to match black background in the use of this product, making the effect of discoloration fresher and more intuitive.
What are the primary components of chameleon paint?
Chameleon paint isn’t a common car paint, which can present various colors according to different light and angles, and is very popular with the young. Chameleon paint is made from chameleon paint plus resin, additives, solvents. In addition, there are solidifiers and diluents acting to increase the hardness and fluidity of the paint surface, respectively, to achieve better results.
Chameleon proportioning method
- The ratio of diluent and solidifier is generally 10% to 30% of the paint area.
- Adjust the proportionaccording to the nature of the paint, ambient temperature and humidity.
- Thoroughly stir the chameleon paint in the drum for 3-5 minutes, add the matching curing agent in the ratio of paint: curing agent 10:1.5, add chameleon paint pigment powder, continue stirring for 1-2 minutes and allow to stand 15 minutes before use, and makesure to perform high-density filtration before use.
Precautions for chameleon curing agents and diluents
- The types of diluents and curing agents should match those of chameleon paints, and the diluents and curing agents required for different types of chameleon paints are also different.
- Determine the proportionof diluent to solidifier according to the specific use, and read the product instructions carefully before use.
- When using diluents and curing agents, wear protective equipment such as gloves and masks to avoid causing harm to the body.
- Maintain good ventilation during use to avoid physical discomfort due to volatilization of diluents and solidifiers.
How to use chameleon paint safely?
- Fully stir and evenly mixthe paintbefore use. Before spraying, filter the prepared paint using the filter cloth with 200 ~ 300 meshes.
- Wet touching and wet spraying should be used for spraying. The amount of paint should not be too large to avoid spraying, and there should be appropriate flash drying time between channels, generally 0.5 ~ 1 min.
- After spraying, dry the surface for 5 ~ 10 min and then spray the coating varnish.
- Use the paint in a ventilated environment. If you usethe paintin a poorly ventilated environment, wear an appropriate spontaneously breathing mask. Do not breathe in the vapor generated during spraying. Skin contact is irritating.
- Do notpourthe waste into sewers. Cover immediately after use.
- If the paint accidentally splashesinto your eyes, rinse your eyes with clean water immediately for 15 minutes and seek medical attention immediately.
- If the paint contactswith your skin, wash thoroughly with soapy water and seek immediate medical attention if discomfort, irritation, or pain develops.
- If you inadvertently inhalethe paintinto your body, have your inhaler drink plenty of water to spit out the dirt and seek medical attention immediately.
How is chameleon paint applied?
Chameleon paint is suitable for the spraying of both plastic parts and metal parts, can be cured at room temperature, can also be baked film, commonly used in the following industries:
- Architectural decoration
As widely used in architectural decoratio, chameleon color shift paint can be used for indoor and outdoor wall, ceiling, floor and other surface decoration. Its unique color change effect can provide good visual enjoyment and add a unique charm to the building.
- Car body painting
Automobile manufacturing is also one of the important applications of chameleon paint. By using chameleon color change paint on the surface of the car, the car can present charming color changes at different angles and attract attention.
- Artistic creation
As widely used by artists in the art field, chameleon paint is used in painting, sculpture and installation art. Its color change effect can grant the works more unique artistic appeal.
Is chameleon paint more expensive than regular paint?
Compared with common paint, the composition of chameleon paint adds a layer of primer, which aims to provide a good reflection background layer for the color slurry “discoloration”. In addition to metal powder, chameleon paint powder is also added in the background color slurry, and “discoloration” is realized by chameleon paint powder. Therefore, chameleon paint is more expensive than regular paint.
What types of chameleon pigments are available?
The number of colors in chameleon paint depends on the specific brand and manufacturer. Generally, there are dozens of different colors, but this is only an approximate number, and the specific number needs to consult our engineer: [email protected]
What are the advantages and disadvantages of chameleon paint?
Chameleon paint can make the color more cool, personalized, and attractive. Besides, the color of chameleon paint varies from viewing angle. This effect is very unique and attractive, making the paint a major bright spot in the car beauty market.
- Chameleon paint has good covering and adhesion, and the color is very beautiful, which can create a marvellouscolor effect.
- When you usechameleon paint, choose the sprayer and angle of spraying,so that the desired effect can be better achieved.
- Chameleon paint is a very durable paint with a long service life, but care should be taken not to be exposed to sunlight, otherwise it will affect the effect of color change.
Of course, chameleon technology has some disadvantages. First, chameleon paint cost is more expensive than regular paint, so car spray costs will be increased accordingly. Secondly, the maintenance and repair of chameleon paint is also difficult, once there is scraping or wear, you have to find a professional car beauty shop for repair, the cost is also relatively high. If you want to make your product more personalized and cool, you can consider choosing chameleon spray technology!
How to select chameleon ink paint?
Price is a key consideration in choosing chameleon ink paint. Prices for chameleon ink paint may vary widely between brands and models. First, we should clarify our budget scope and the requirements for paint quality. Generally, high-quality paint is relatively expensive, but can present a more stable color and a more lasting protective effect in long-term use. Therefore, when purchasing chameleon paint, it depends not only on price, but also on performance and durability.
